SAFEGUARDING

Jesus Takeover Lobiko Church and FEPA Lobiko Church has developed this safeguarding policy to establish a comprehensive set of procedures, best practices, and relevant contacts, ensuring the protection of children and vulnerable adults within our Church community. Through the implementation of this policy, we fulfil our commitment to safeguarding the most vulnerable members of society, thereby safeguarding the Church as a whole. Ultimately, these practices aim to ensure the safety and well-being of everyone in our community, every day. We regularly review our protocols to ensure they remain current and effective. Our processes for individuals working with children and vulnerable adults meet established standards, aiming to enhance public trust in Jesus Takeover's integrity.

As a Church, we follow government guidelines for safeguarding. This includes ensuring the welfare of children and young people as outlined in 'Working Together to Safeguard Children: A Guide to Inter-agency Working to Safeguard and Promote the Welfare of Children (2015).' We also adhere to The Care Act 2014 Care and Support Statutory Guidance (updated 2016) for safeguarding adults with care needs who may be at risk of abuse or are vulnerable.

All reports or suspicions of abuse are treated seriously by our leadership, trustees, staff, and volunteers, and are responded to appropriately. This may involve notifying children's services or, in some cases, law enforcement. Jesus Takeover is committed to fully cooperating with the police and authorities in any subsequent investigations into alleged abuse, if deemed necessary. We seek to ensure that all children and vulnerable adults are protected regardless of gender, age, racial heritage and or disability. At Jesus Takeover we will recognise the additional needs of children or adults who are disabled and the barriers they may face especially around communication.

We will ensure all staff receive proper training on how to respond if there are signs of abuse or risk of harm to a child or vulnerable adult. As a Church, we'll also empower staff to provide supportive responses to anyone disclosing abuse or reporting abuse of another individual.
